2012年は希望に満ちた年に
なりますように
アメリカから日本に戻ってから、
Shopping お正月でしたが
例年ほどテレビ正月では
なかったのですが
しかしゼクシィのCMで気になる
Japanese Englishが
ありました。
それは"Get Old With Me"
おそらく「共に歳を重ねて生きましょう」
というつもりだったでしょうが
むしろ「共に老けましょう」という
ニュアンスがあります。
"Mr. Carty has really
gotten old"なら「カーティー
さんは本当に老けましたね」
という意味です。残念ならら
本当の話です(笑)。先月、私は
63歳になりました。
実は「共に歳を重ねて行こう」という
John Lennonの素晴らしい
歌があります。やはり ”Get Old With Me"
じゃなくて,より優雅な”Grow Old With Me"
が使われています。いわゆる”語感"の
問題です。日本で目にしたり耳にしたり
する”英語”の多くは日本語からの
置き換えである”Japanese English"
です。”Get Old With Me"もそうです。
お互いに優雅に歳を重ねるように努力しましょう。
